what are the chemistry ideas in making wine?
This is for an assignment. Other than Fermentation, I would like to know other science ideas of wine-making and how they relate to chemistry.
Thanks

Well there’s sterilization equipment. You can write something on how they affect the bacterial cell wall. Ie some oxidize the cell’s phosolipid bilayer. Some research will have to be done in cell walls, and the chemicals used. (If you need any help with how the chemicals kill the bacteria write me back, but you’ll have to do the other work on your own.(Ie, what chemicals are used)). The fermentation cycle as you mentioned. I provided a link below, its a fairly complicated cycle when you get down to the nitty gritty, be sure to do some more research in that. Search for “glycolysis, and anearobic pathways, Kreb’s cycle, and Electron Transport Phosphorylation. (I provided a link for a basis below)
Um its not really chemistry, but you could talk about the physics behind siphoning out the wine.
If you want to get really complicated you can talk about how alcohol affects the body.
